Configuration changes were as follows:
- Set up a separator page kutana-pcl.sep, which incorporates the Escape codes necessary to print the separator page from Tray 2, which contains YELLOW paper. The file is a text file, despite the unusual extension.
- Set up TWO queues for the same printer – our Canon Colour printer. Queue "Office Colour" prints without the separator page, queue "Office Colour (SEPARATOR)" prints with the separator page
- Queue "Office Colour" is set up in Kappris as belonging to printer pool SEPARATOR_OFF while the other queue belongs to printer pool SEPARATOR_ON
- Set up TWO print modes to print to plain paper. Print mode “Plain Simplex” uses printer pool SEPARATOR_OFF while Print mode “Plain Simplex with SEPARATOR Pages” uses printer pool SEPARATOR_ON
Printers are configured to use separator pages as below:
Using these configuration changes I was able to print from Outlook as follows:
- Email + attachments
- Plain Simplex to Office Colour (SEPARATOR)
- Each document, whether email OR attachment is preceded by a yellow separator page
- Email + attachments
- Print Mode "Plain Simplex with SEPARATOR Pages" forces emails to print to Office Colour (SEPARATOR)
- Each document, whether email OR attachment is preceded by a yellow separator page
- 3 Emails + all attachments
- Email set to Plain Simplex to Office Colour (SEPARATOR)
- Attachments set to Plain Simplex to Office Colour
- Each root email print is preceded by a yellow separator page
- After each root email all its attachments print without any separator
Other configuration options and selections at the user interface can be used but, in principle,
NOTE: The separator page MUST be saved in c:\windows\system32
